Water Gum (Tristaniopsis exiliflora)

As their name and this photo suggests, Water Gums grow on the banks of streams where the soil is constantly wet.
These trees are growing on the bank of Brown Creek, Cape York Peninsula, north Queensland, Australia.

Beautiful soft colors and smooth trunks. Do they lean because of flooding, or reach for light because of dense forest behind. Or maybe it's just their nature to recline.

The greenery has such a lovely softness that contrasts beautifully with the gum trunks - nice shot V

Is this the old gum tree in which the Kookaburra sits (according to the song!). Terrific shot. V
