Final stop along the way; our second visit to Lockhart River but this time in daylight and as much about uploading empties such as aircraft fuel containers as downloading.
The waters adjacent to the Lockhart River community are too shallow for our ship. We “parked” about a kilometre offshore in Lloyd Bay and were met by a flat-bottom barge, the transfer of goods occurring “at sea”.
Lockhart River is an Aboriginal community of about 650 people. It can be inaccessible by road for months at a time during the tropical wet season.
