Rose Sheoak (Allocasuarina torulosa)

It is early May, and male plants of the Rose Sheoak are all covered in tiny, rusty-coloured (male!) flowers.
This is an abundant tree in moist eucalypt forests in my home district.
In spite its conifer-like appearance, this is a true flowering plant.

Fascinating looking tree that does look very conifer like. A beautiful photo of the flowers. V
