Thanks very much for your observations, Geoff. As I'm not familiar with Petalostigma triloculare, you've prompted me to check this out carefully. A key character, leaf shape (https://keybase.rbg.vic.gov.au/keys/show/2968 ) suggests this is Petalastigma pubescens, the species having elliptic to ovate leaves cf longer-narrower in P. triloculare. Further, I took the photograph near Darwin in the Northern Territory (Australia), an area where P. pubescens is common; this is massively outside the known range of P. triloculare.

I think your Petalostigma pubescens "Quinine Tree" as depicted is Petalostigma triculare "Quinine Berry" (and other names). Pubescens has yellow fruits. Triculare has orange fruits. Just saying.........
