# Double Island Point #

In June 2014 I had the privilege of staying for eight days in the former lighthouse-keepers cottage at Double Island Point in the Great Sandy National Park (Cooloola section). This is in sub-tropical south-east Queensland, Australia, with Fraser Island a few kilometres to the north.
Double Island Point isn’t an island, but rather an isthmus comprising a vegetated spit of sand dunes several kilometres long and perhaps 500 m wide, tipped by a rocky headland of about 80 ha. To get there, we travelled 40 kilometres along the Teewah Beach by four-wheel-drive.
Also included in this gallery are some images from Freshwater, which is about 10 km away and also in the Great Sandy National Park, along with a few bird photos taken along Teewah Beach.
