Joe Hurtak was my next door neighbor and buddy from the first part of 1974 until mid-1976 when my first wife and I moved to Miami Lakes. We bought two-story townhouses just south of W. 72nd Street on W. 2nd Court in Palm Springs Villas, a new townhouse development by the Lovell Brothers in Hialeah on old Naval Air Station Miami property that was auctioned off by the U. S. General Services Administration.

Joe and his wife at the time Anna were nice quiet neighbors and their son Joseph Jr. was born while we were neighbors. We stayed in touch for years via Christmas cards and he was living in Homestead the last time I heard from him.

Rest in Peace, Big Joe! Thank you for being a good next-door neighbor and friend 38 years ago. If I can find any photos of Joe in the storage boxes I will scan them and add them to this memoriam gallery.
