After my first four years at St. Mary's Parochial School from 1953 to 1957 we moved to a new home in the Palm Springs section of northwest Hialeah in June 1957 and I started 5th grade at Immaculate Conception School in September 1957. I had Mr. Brenner in 5th grade, Mr. Silvia in 6th grade and Sister Perpetua in 7th grade (I think). In the summer of 1960 my best buddy at the time talked his parents and I talked my father into letting us transfer to 8th grade at Palm Springs Junior High which was only half a block from our homes. It was a considerable adjustment going from the strict discipline to a more relaxed discipline and from the non-social atmosphere between the girls and the boys to a far more social atmosphere in public school.
