Early 1940's - a Langley Twin, NX29099, built in 1940 and made of plastic-bonded Mahogany at Miami Municipal Airport

Miami Municipal Airport, NW 107th Street & LeJeune Road, Miami

Thank you to Gene Lanham for contributing this great old image of a Langley Twin molded plastic-bonded mahogany aircraft. This aircraft had to be hand propped by a strong arm which was an art, according to Gene. The previous quip under this photo about 'Armstrong starter aircraft' meant that a strong arm was needed to hand-prop it.

Thank you to Mark Fidler for identifying the aircraft type and year it was built.

This is an image capture from a 16mm color film.

The Langley NX29099 was built at Langley Aviation Corporation, of Port Washington, Long Island.
