The next day, May 30, 1937 my grandfather, W. Bruce MacIntosh took Amelia, her husband, George Palmer Putnam and the navigator, Fred Noonan out fishing in the Gulf Stream on his boat. I have some picture copies that show Amelia deep sea fishing, having lunch and steering the boat (her 1st time doing that, she said) There is one shot of my grandmother, Lilly MacIntosh sitting next to Amelia on the stern looking forward. The original negatives are in The Smithsonian Institution. The morning that Amelia left on her journey, my grandparents met her at 5:00am to wish her a "bon voyage."
They were the last people to see her off...

The hangar she used was later moved to Masters Field where it was used as a stage in the late 1960s by Miami-Dade. It was painted red and stood on the s.e. corner of the property.
