The "Magic Screen" that came in those kits was most likely clear "cling-vinyl" - which adhered to any smooth surface by static electricity. The crayons were probably a softer wax than the standard Crayolas, thereby making them easier to wipe off the vinyl sheeting.

Jack Barry was the host of "Winky Dink and You", and Dayton Allen appeared as "Mr. Bungle" the inept handyman.

I think I used to use something clear that would stick to the TV screen because most families back then weren't into spending money on things like that.

I used to draw right on the TV and catch hell for it ,But mom would not buy me a kit so I could play correctly.
