This brings back fond memories. This is where I finally learned to swim. I was either in the 6th or 7th grade at the time. I had a fear of people teaching me at the Fairlawn Elementary School pool. I got scuba certified while pregnant, at the age of 26, in Dallas, TX.

A friend from Miami sent me the site for these pictures since I was a former resident.
The Matheson Hammock ones were very meaningful because I worked there while attending the U.M. as a lifeguard under Ray Booker and then as captain of guards when he left for the Crandon Park job. I met my future wife, Marie Lamport, there and after I graduated we were married at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Coconut Grove. While working there I modeled for Ardean Miller, a Life Magazine photographer who often came to the beach and I was in Florida Citrus Commission ads that appeared in the big magazines. He also took the pictures at our wedding. I left in the late 40's to coach tennis at the university. Later I worked at Miami Beach pools and presented diving shows.
