I used to live in one of the apartments at the north side of the lake overlooking the lake in the early 1980's. I used to go down to the pool and onto the wood decking over the lake where you could dive in and get using the ladder attached to the decking. I used to bring hot dogs, chicken bones and rib bones down to the decking where I would stamp on the decking and before you knew it, there would be about 20 huge jack swimming just below you. You could throw the food/bones out into the lake and the jack would chase it while it was in the air and looked like torpedoes and would catch it as soon as it hit the water. You could also hand feed them while in the water but they would sometimes get into a feeding frenzy!! That was scary!!

Thank you for the update and I'm sorry to hear that because the historical name usually remains as the primary name in larger letters/numbers. Watch, this will establish some kind of crappy precedence where the historical name is downgraded to smaller letters/numbers and people should raise hell if it happens.

They added it but it is now on top and in larger letters than Emerald Drive.

Guest, did they rename Emerald Drive as you say or did they add the former chief's name to Emerald Drive as a dual designation which is what they usually do when honoring people by naming streets after them?

Emerald Drive was just recently renamed: "Chief Kenneth Each Drive" to "honor" former North Miami Police Chief of the same name who just happens to still own considerable real-estate along the lake...what a farce!

My father used to take me fishing on the banks of Emerald Lake. The photo is exactly as I remember it....pristine!

My buddy and I used to snorkel that lake cause it was crystal clear. Spring fed I think. We used to get scared to death when those tarpon would swim past us. Some joker once through steak scraps in the water as we snorkelled by. In later years the Australian pine trees got huge and you could swing on a rope out over the lake and drop in on those hot summer days!

I used to swim laps in the lake. The tarpon and jack would follow me back and forth. We would bring hot dogs to feed the fish and they were HUGE.
