1922 - Hialeah welcome sign on County Road (later Okeechobee Road) and 1st Street

Hialeah, Florida

This image is a William A. Fishbaugh photograph donated to the Florida State Archives. I cropped and enhanced it for website display.

From the state archives description: "Looking down County Road, at the corner of 1st Street. On the left is the Hialeah welcome sign, depicting Seminole Indian Jack Tigertail in traditional dress. The building on the right (corner of County Road and 1st Street) is apparently the welcome station/real estate development office for Hialeah. (Sign above door reads, in part: "Hialeah Realty.")es.

I beleive the Hialeah Motel sits where the welcome station/real estate office once stood.
