I was learning to fly at 'Wings of America' flight school on the east side of the field. They had two 1965 C150's that had the hand flaps that dropped to 40°and Omni-Vision. Burnside-Ott was in it's hey day and it was a busy airport. I lived with my parents ( I was 13) in Miami Lakes and lived on Lake Patricia which was located down the center-line about 1 1/2 miles from the approach end of 9C. All of the C-150's, Cherokee 140's and Aeronca Tri-Champs would use 27C/9C for touch and goes and go right over my house all day every day.
I believe the Lockheed Constellations were moved to OPF from MIA to avoid wind from Hurricane Isbell October 15, 1964.-Roger Allen
