1930 - Pan American Airways System Sikorsky S-40 at Dinner Key

Dinner Key, Miami, Florida

From the state archives description: "With this Commodore-type Clipper (first of the Full fledged seaplanes) PAA opened service to Kingston, Jamaica in December 1930. The Commodre (a twin-engined aircraft) played an important role in the development of many of the pioneer, international airline's routes)."

Obviously the archives had misidentified the aircraft depicted in the image as this was a Sikorsky S-40 with 4 engines.

other sizes: small medium original auto
