1950 - American Overseas B-377 N90941 and Constellation being painted in Pan American paint scheme at Miami

Miami International Airport, Florida

From the state archives: "Receiving their new Pan Am colors, two former American Overseas Airlines planes join the globe-circling clipper fleet at Miami, Florida. A double-deck, four-engine Boeing (left) and a four-engine Constellation are shown doffing the old and donning the new at the Miami overhaul base of Pan Am. This scene symbolizes the merger of American Overseas Airlines with Pan Am in September, 1950."

The Boeing 377 became Pan American Clipper America (N90941) and the Constellation became Clipper Yankee Ranger.

The Pan Am and OAO airplanes are easily separated by their lounge windows. Aircraft ordered by Pan Am had round lounge windows, while those ordered by AOA had square lounge windows.
