~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Miami Herald Obituary:
STRANDELL, JACK (JAKE), Oct 4, 1946 - Sept. 19, 2003 Mr. Jake Strandell passed away Friday night after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. His wife, sons, brothers and friends were by his side as he crossed over. Jake was born Oct. 4, 1946. He served in the U. S. Air Force and met his soul mate, Kay Faulk while stationed at Seymour Johnson, NC. Jake and Kay were married on Sep 9, 1967. They had two children who he loved dearly. Following his service in the United States Air Force, Jake began a career in the airport industry. He was vastly respected and cherished by those at his work place. No matter how much business- related work had to be completed, Jake always made time for his wife, children, dogs, and friends. He knew the importance of the Church, as well as his family and friends and held nothing higher. He would often coach his kids' little league teams; praising their effort, regardless of the outcome. Even when they moved away to college, he would be there on a moments notice when they needed his help, or Kay needed to see her boys. Jake Strandell is survived by his wife, Kay Strandell; son, Clark Strandell; son, Keith Strandell; daughter-in-law Tina Strandell; his brothers James, Danny and Toby Strandell; numerous nieces and nephews, and his pets Midget (The Midge) and Bear Strandell. The viewing will be held at Boyd's Family Funeral Home, 1600 N. University Drive, Pembroke Pines. Visitors may arrive between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Local services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Redeemer, 8445 Northwest 186th Street, Miami. Per Mr. Strandell's request, he will be buried where he met the love of his life, Kay, in North Carolina. He will be buried at Wayne Memorial Cemetery, Goldsboro, NC.
