Jerry's teacup chihuaha Melissa is hanging out of his shirt. They were in town visiting from their home in Tallapoosa, Georgia. Jerry finally found Artie Borreca who went to Palm Springs Junior High and Hialeah High with us in the early to mid 60's. We had a nice lunch nearby and many conversations about the good old days and others we grew up with. Artie retired from the Hialeah Fire Department in 1995 and is currently living in west Hialeah.

*** December 2011 *** - I received notice from a friend of Jerry's in Tallapoosa, Georgia, that Jerry Kettleman passed away on Friday, December 2nd. I was very sorry to hear this bad news. Jerry's obituary is below:

Jerry V. Kettleman, November 5, 1947 - December 2, 2011


Mr. Jerry V. Kettleman age 64, of 266 Providence Ch. Rd., Tallapoosa passed away Friday December 2, 2011. He was born November 5, 1947 to the late Harold and Loretta Myers Kettleman.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Jones Kettleman and brothers George Cochran and Hoagy Kettleman.

Mr. Kettleman served in the U.S. Marines in Vietnam and was retired after many years from Automotive Parts business.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law John and Tabatha Owen of Tallapoosa; grandsons, John David Owen, Dillon Owen, and Shane Owen, all of Tallapoosa; brother and sister-in-law John and Arlene Cochran of North Port, FL; Special friend Mary Scholtz.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Hazel Glover officiating. Music will be provided by Tim Hand. Pallbearers serving will be Jack Davis, Earl Wingo, Joe Samples, Johnny King, Ronnie Williams, John Lockhart, Heath Cash, and Walt Headrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Saxon, Gerald Mann and Walter Robinson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 4, 2011 between the hours of 5 and 8.
