Dr. Quentin "Pete" Ciolfi (I call him Kernel Seaflea), my life-long friend since 1957 when we were both 10 and in 5th grade at Immaculate Conception School in Hialeah, finally retired on April 30, 2014. Dr. Ciolfi was a full Professor of Economics in the Business and Communications Department at Eastern Florida State College (formerly Brevard Community College) in Melbourne, Florida. We called him "Seaflea" back in the late 1950's and when I found out he had reached the rank of Colonel in the U. S. Army Reserve I added the "Kernel" to his nickname. He is also a member of Hialeah High School's Class of 1965. Pete had a concurrent second job in the Army Reserve for many years and he retired at age 60 as a full Colonel in 2007. His wife Linda will retire from the Brevard County Sheriff's Department in January 2015 and she and Pete will be traveling all over the country in their luxurious motor home that Pete is sitting in. Big congrats to Pete and Linda for retiring and having the resources to travel all over in their retirement years!
