My aunt Norma bought this home when new in 1960 or shortly thereafter and she lived there until 1970 and again from 1980 until she died at 81 years old in 1999. In 1970, at the age of 52, she got on with the U. S. Postal Service at the main post office in Hialeah because she wanted better benefits and a pension when she retired. She had to start out on midnight shifts and the commute at night was too much so she moved into the home I grew up in in Hialeah. My first wife and I rented her home after I finished my four years active duty with the Coast Guard and was going to Miami-Dade and working part-time at Sears Northside. We lived there from July 1970 until March 1974 when we bought a new townhouse in Palm Springs Villas, built by the Lovell Brothers construction company. Norma then rented her home out to a variety of tenants until 1980 when I sold the family home in Hialeah and she moved back to her home in Miramar.

Our next door neighbors to the west were the Quattlebaum family, across the street was the John and Joann DiDio family and to the east of us was Ernie and ? (last name forgotten but I will find it). The infamous nosy Mrs. McBride lived next door to the DiDio's on the east side and she was always spying on us, particularly when we had wild poker games at our home on weekend nights.
