Hialeah Speedway, Hialeah, Florida

Thank you to Matt Hayden, now in Washington State, for contributing this great old image. Matt found a 2'x2' print version of this photo at a thrift shop and sent me a smaller scan. Matt would like to know if anyone has additional information on this car.

My name is Ron Ellis, i grew up with Brownie Congers family in MIami. I went to school with Brownies sons George and Ronnie. Those were great times.George and i built many engines and enjoyed racing for many years. Best of times for sure. Does anyone know what ever happened to Connie, Brownie Congers friend. Last i knew of him he worked at Marion Edwards Paint in South Miami. I can be reached at Rge1956@yahoo.com Thanks

I went to school with Brownie’s son George. Good old days. We built many engines and raced many cars together.

Don Boyd, Matt Hayden, Steve Baker, Kirt Sullivan - My name is Carol Conger & W.C. Conger was my Father-in-Law. He owned 2 Conger Plastering cars, which were raced, I think every week. My husband & I went quite a bit & I have 2 smaller pictures, one of each car. If you'd like to get in touch with me, I am on Facebook & my e-mail is ccryderz43@aol.com. The pictures are about 8x10's. I'm going to make sure I forward this to Gary & Glenn, who I'm still very close to. Their Grandfather was 'Brownie' Conger, who was close to my Father-in-Law. They all grew up in the same area & were very close through the years. My husband & Richie were like brothers & remained so. Richie & my husband (Clinton) have passed away as well as Chris. I would love to hear from one or all of you. I'm stunned that this is on the Internet!! Thank you!!

Actually, I just verified that my grandfather owned this car solely which makes sense because no one else had their name on the car and it was kept at his plastering business.

Steve, I have a picture of this car with my Grandfather, WC Conger and possibly your father or the driver. Do you have any pictures of this car? Thanks, Dave
Kirt, Richie, Wayne, Ron and Chris are my cousins. Thanks, Dave

My father either owned or co-owned this car and was also the mechanic until we moved to Alaska in 1960. Many happy memories helping him work on this and his other cars (always #4, 41, or 49 depending on what track we were racing at). Cherry Service Station and a Gulf Station also sponsored his cars.

Thanks Don! Maybe Matt will see this comment and contact me. Thanks for posting all of these great memories. If you visit my FB page, you are welcome to the other pic that I have of my grandfather and his driver standing in front of this car. I'm not sure what the drivers name is, maybe someone can identify him.
Thanks, Dave

Wow. I have a picture of this car. My grandfather, Dub, owned this car and Conger Plastering. One of my pictures has my grandfather, the car and his driver. My grandfathers name was Washington Columbus Conger. I was just sitting here looking through Mr. Boyds pictures remembering how awesome Hialeah was back then and was amazed to see this. Thanks Mr. Boyd and Matt. Matt, if you read this message you can reach me on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/dave.conger. I currently live in Georgia. Mr Boyd, I browsed other photo's in your galleries and you have many pictures of my ancestors. I have very few pictures if any of some of them. Seeing those pictures for the first time in nearly 40 years was amazing and my kids really enjoyed seeing them. Thank you, Dave Conger
