This southwest facing cover is interesting to see because you can see the new Lovell Brothers Palm Springs Estates home development in the upper background. The homes were built in phases from W. 12th Lane westward to W. 16th Avenue and the 8 model homes were on W. 12th Lane north of W. 58th Street up to the halfway point in the block where Adler Construction built from 5900 northward to W. 60th Street. The homes built on W. 12th Avenue across the street from DuPuis and on W. 12th Court were not built until the entire development was seriously underway as seen by the vacant land west of DuPuis.
Thank you to Dotti Louden Bialek and Bobbi Louden for contributing this great old image from the DuPuis Elementary yearbook. Please click on original below to see this image at the largest size.
QUESTION: WHY did Dade County Public Schools remove the Doctor (Dr.) from Dr. DuPuis' name for the name of the school? We have schools named "Dr." whatever for people with doctorates in education, which are far easier to achieve than medical doctors, especially from well-known diploma mills, so why would the school system remove "Dr." from Dr.John G. DuPuis Elementary School?
