Late 1910's - description written on back of an old photo of Joseph G. Carpenter in a Curtiss JM-4B at Curtiss Field in Hialeah

Curtiss Field, Hialeah, Florida

Thank you to Drew Mosher for contributing this image from the back of a 90-year old image of his grandfather (b>Joseph George Carpenter standing with a Curtiss JN-4B Jenny. I believe the canal he refers to is the Little River Canal on the south perimeter of Curtiss Field in Hialeah because there was never an airfield next to the Miami Canal which turns into the Miami River. According to his grandmother Charles Lindbergh was one of Mr. Carpenter's flight students at one point in time.

Joseph George Carpenter was born in England in March, 1894 and died in Connecticut in July, 1960.
