1963 - the original entrance to Palm Springs North from the Palmetto Expressway

The Big Bend on the Palmetto Expressway, Dade County, Florida

This image shows the original entrance/exit road to Palm Springs North from the Palmetto Expressway. The speed limit on the Palmetto was 70mph back then and traffic slowing to make the exit from either direction was hazardous and people entering the expressway from a dead stop was even more dangerous. Eventually they built NW 169th Street to connect to the entrance road from NW 67th Avenue and closed the entrance/exit road shown in this image.

other sizes: small medium original auto

Thank you for your post and clarification on the third generation of models. I remember the original models on the other side of the street because I got dragged through them at the grand opening of PSN as a kid but not the newer ones depicted in the photo.

Actually the models your arrow shows are the 3rd models built. The first were the homes on 78th ave. shown across the street and later remodeled as 2nd models The original models were Blossom, Camelia, Gloriana, Gladiola and Gardenia. We bought the Camelia 3 BR, 1Bath, and carport, screened in back porch for $12,200 and moved in April 1961.

I believe this big bend was called "killer corner" at one time.
