Does anyone remember an English guy called Raymond Sloane who bought the place around 1980?

Anyone have any of those Vote For Flynn signs/pictures?

Wdolde, I would love you post your menus from Flynn's and other restaurants. You will get photo credit on and below the photos. Please send to OldMiamiMemories@gmail.com when you have the time. It may take a few days to get them up due to other pending photos but I'll let you know when they're up and links for each photo. Thanks!

Writing my 2nd article on old Miami restaurants for our Feb. Mangowood newsletter. I refer to various sites to refresh my memory. I actually have an original menu from Flynn's and many other restaurants mentioned in this post. It's really fun to see the prices. If you ever want to post any of them ,let me know. wdolde

I grew up in Miami and long to move back there. So many good things to remember and I certainly won't forget Flynn's Dixie Ribs and their fantabulous key lime pie! My dad was a friend of Mr. Flynn's for many years and I certainly miss those Sunday visits, even though we had to drive from North Miami... it was more than worth it!

All is right. It is true, they had the best key lime pie..

The BEST Key Lime Pie! Does anyone remember a BBQ joint further down Dixie on the same side, called (I think) "Gill'ms" (we pronounced it 'Gillums'). Another FINE BBQ place. I've been eating at the South Miami Shorty's since the early 60's, both before and after the fire. Still a MUST whenever I get to visit!

We ate there all the time. Lots of ribs and those GREAT tater tots! Always wondered who won my pony!
Guest 11-Oct-2012 02:14
Changed my life. In 1963 they had a raffle to win a pony, every tme you eat there you got tickets to win . My dad and I were lucky enough to take that pony home. Still haven't found any key lime pie as good as Flynns.

This is the Key Lime Pie that all others are measured against. I haven't found better Key Lime anywhere - and I've tried!
Guest 26-May-2011 07:16
Not as good as Shorty's, but still decent and there was a Big Daddy's liquor store across the street, so it was often a "get liquor on sale and grab some Flynn's while you're at it" kind of a day.

Best Coconut Cream Pie also!

Best Key Lime Pie

I worked here in 1967/1968. Agree that it is not as good as Shorty's but a darn sight better than what we get these days.

It was good and close to where I lived back in the day at 8000SW 152nd St. Still I preferred Shorty’s.
