Mid 1960's - WQAM disc jockey Jim "Catfish" Dunlap on the back of WQAM's Oldies but Goodies record album

Miami, Florida

I last saw Jim Dunlap at a WQAM Disc Jock reunion at Biscayne Baby in Coconut Grove in 1988. He was married to the beautiful Lynne Russell, anchorwoman at CNN, at the time. A photo is located on my site at: http://www.pbase.com/donboyd/image/56722503 .

Jim Dunlap was a very popular disc jockey, Music Director and Program Director at WQAM "Tiger Radio", 560AM, in Miami in the 60's. WQAM had close to a 60% market share of radio listeners at their peak, several years before FM radio became more available. That type of market share is unheard of these days. Jim passed away in the Atlanta area on September 28, 1999, after a prolonged illness.

A tribute to Jim Dunlap can be found at this site:

A great site in tribute to WQAM-560 "Tiger Radio" is at:

A big thank you to Fred Swick for contributing this album to me so I could scan it and put it up on this site. Fred lived in Miami from 1949 to 1958 and Hialeah from 1958 to 1970. He now lives in Monroe, Ohio but gets back to Miami every once in a while.
