These are photos of the grand opening night at the new Hooters Hialeah on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the site of the old International House of Pancakes at 680 W. 49th Street. The International House of Pancakes, later known as IHOP, was built in the early 1960's in the parking lot in front of the old Zayre discount department store and I remember it being built and their grand opening more than 50 years ago.

A couple of years ago IHOP built a new restaurant at Westland Mall just west of the Fuddrucker's which occupies the area where the Piccadilly Cafeteria was for many years just west of Sears. My wife Karen noticed that the Hooters was open on her way home from work while looking for a new bakery that recently opened on Palm Springs Mile so we went to dinner there, not knowing that it was their grand opening night. Several officials from the city of Hialeah were there along with the Hialeah police chief and there were numerous management members from Hooters walking around making sure that the grand opening went smoothly. Our dinner was delicious, the Hooters ladies were very attractive and the service was great.
