The exterior of the upstairs is clad in asbestos shingles...which are really great as far as holding paint and lasting for decades...but the previous tenants broke off too many pieces of the shingles on the other side of the upstairs...so I'll be installing Hardiboard around the whole upstairs. It's a concrete-wood pulp product. You get it pre-primed...and apply a coat of paint to it, that will last twenty years, or until you're tired of the color.
