Brown Pelicans were an endangered species just a few years ago. But they have been making a come back.
A very large, but graceful bird. Awesome to watch and to photograph as they glide across the water and then turn quickly to dive in on a fish.
At times the sea gulls try to steal the catch. They will get on the pelican's head and hope for the chance at a free meal at the expense of the pelican.
The White Pelicans migrate here for the winter. They are a little more skittish than the Brown Pelicans, but just as graceful and interesting to watch.
