Night Shooting

Learning Celestial Navigation challenged me to spend a lot of time learning the night sky. It was intimidating, but as in learning any new subject it is always hard at first, but sticking with it, it becomes easier. Offshore the skies are very clear most nights and on top of the wheel house was one of my favorite spots to hide out, be alone, and look out at the Universe.
Photographing a night sky has been fun to learn. Here in this area there is much light pollution that affects night time shooting. Learning to work around it has been a challenge. My dream for the near future is getting away from here to west Texas and darker skies.
Here are night time photos taken as I learn to shoot in the dark.
