The Nikon 50mm f/1.2 AIS is still made in 2020, and sells for $950 CAD according to
Nikon's Canadian website. It was preceded by the 50mm f/1.2 AI which was made in 1979-80,
before being replaced by the AIS version. The external appearance and the optical formula
of the two versions is the same, but AI has 7 aperture blades, compared to the AIS's 9.
Additionally the AI has a much longer focus throw, which I prefer for precise focusing.
My AI is in excellent condition, and I like the fact that it is over 40 years old.
