The other day I was horrified to see what appeared to be a carpenter ant walking
across the floor in our house. Later I saw two of them on our dining room table.
Then I realized that the ants came in on the flowers I bought that morning.

The flowers were purchased from a local grower on Quadra Island. I'm not positive
the ants that hitched a ride were carpenter ants, but they were pretty big and
looked a lot like carpenter ants I've seen in the wild. In any case, I'm not
worried that our house is in any danger. I sent the three I found to ant heaven,
and if there are any others they won't find any suitably soft wood to move into.

Beautiful composition and colors. I have sent a few of those big ants to ant heaven also. I feel bad but I have plenty of woods around my house, they can stay there!

Fine shot of these beautiful flowers. Interesting that the ants used them as a means of transportation!

This is so pretty I can't believe the ants would want to leave!
