All of Vancouver Island is now classified as being in a moderate drought
or a severe drought. The area around Campbell River (pictured here)
is considered to be in a severe drought, as is Quadra Island.
However this morning (August 8) there were heavy clouds and fog, which
turned into rain throughout the day. Tomorrow is supposed to be about
the same. Unfortunately, warm sunny days are returning and the forecast
for the rest of August and into September is for unusually hot and
dry conditions. I hope the forecasts are wrong.
On a brighter note, there are two eagles in this photo, perched on top
of a couple of trees. Can you see them? You'll have to view the photo
in original size. The distance from the camera to the eagles is almost
exactly two kilometers (1.24 miles).
