Whale Trail

This interesting sign was recently posted at the Campbell River Ferry Terminal.

I may have seen a Grey Whale and/or a Minke Whale in the 12 years we have lived here,
but if I have, it wasn’t a good enough view to make a positive identification.
However I have had many sightings of all the other species on the sign.

I’m not sure why, but the sign does not include river otters. There are plenty of them around here.
(I guess if you are a marine mammal with legs and toes you are not allowed on the sign.)

Best viewed at original size.

A definite case of discrimination, no river otters!

I guess a river otter just do not have all the panache of a whale.

It is good that people are watching out for all water dwellers. While I concerned for all wildlife, waters dwellers concern me the most. V

Cool sign. Nice that you can download the Whale Report. I have seen five animals on the sign around here, not counting the human.

I'd love to see all those guys but I would really like to see some river otters!

It would certainly be fun to see some of them! Better keep your eyes peeled.

You have a wide variety of wild life in your area. You are lucky.

you will need the patience of a spider to sit and watch for all of them to pass...CBC reports that Jpod are finally back, and seen in Haro Strait Tuesday...they may be dropping by Quadra soon...a chance to play at citizen scientist of the cetacean variety...
