The following will only be of interest to flash nerds.
This Godox TT600 speedlight is an amazing bargain. I paid $82 CDN.
You may think I bought it used, but no, that is the price for a brand new unit.
This is a “single pin” flash, which means it does not have TTL, but on the other hand
it can be used on almost any camera. And it has some amazing features. It has a built
in radio receiver which means it can be controlled by any Godox trigger without requiring
the attachment of a clunky receiver. If you have a camera that supports HSS, this flash will
sync up to 1/8000 sec as long as you have the appropriate camera-specific Godox trigger.
And this flash can also function as a Godox trigger itself! You can put it on any camera and
it can control up to five groups of Godox flashes, including all their speedlights and high
powered strobes. My Godox trigger cost $89, $7 more than this flash, although admittedly
the trigger is more compact and faster to use than the TT600 in trigger mode. But still,
that is a very useful bit of built in functionality when you need it. The Godox
system is by far the most flexible flash system that I am aware of.
In this photo the TT600 is being remotely triggered, and it
is also being lit by another Godox flash, the AD100 Pro.
