This is a dog in the process of losing
her off-leash privileges at the golf course.

Yesterday we walked the golf course and Kailey took off out of sight.
Mr. D and I called her name for half an hour, but she did not respond.
I figured that she would be smart enough to go back to the parking lot
so we waited there, and sure enough, she eventually came trotting up
with her tongue hanging out... way out.

Today I thought I would give her a second chance. Once again, she took off.
A half hour later she returned to the parking lot. I thought, well maybe
now that she is tired we can try again and re-establish a proper recall.
No such luck. Halfway down the first fairway she bolted and ignored my calls.
This picture was taken as she crossed the fairway on her way to the next one.

When she met up with me again in the parking lot she was a tired and happy dog.
She won't be so happy next time when she is not let off the leash.

Ha, she sounds like Tug! Once he is on to something he goes deaf. So far he always comes back but I fear one day he will get lost or hurt and won't be able to find us. We keep working on recalls because I love to see him have so much fun running free.

She hasn’t learned her lesson. She must love her freedom. V

Not a good habit to get into for sure !! She's sure been spoilt having such a marvelous place to run free. !

I understand this well. I had a yellow lab that would always run off when we went to the park. Everyone else is playing frisbee or fetch with their dogs and mine is no where to be found. And he would not listen to me! He put his nose down and off he went. Never was able to cure that.

Got it all to herself, as least for a while! V

A little trouble in paradise, Kailey is feeling her oats and you wonder what she's up to. With that nose she's probably hot on a scent and deaf to the world.

Wow, I know that's a little unnerving. It must be even more so with a "new" pup. Glad she came back.

They must be very lenient at your gold course (or maybe you own it). The golf courses I have had the "pleasure" to visit would not allow dogs to run loose and would send you letters, fine you, terminate your membership, etc. Neat shot though.

Well she must love the freedom of being off leash! My son's dog goes crazy just to be let out the back door without a leash! I can't imagine what she'd do if she was off leash on a golf course!! V

Oh dear! It can take awhile before dogs respond to the command "come". Took Sasha some months before I felt really safe letting her off leash. At any rate, this is a wonderful shot!
