The Frost Flowers of 2008 "bloomed" profusely in the crisp morning cold of Saturday, Nov. 22, when overnight temperature dipped to the low 20s (-6 °C) and did not rise above freezing until well after noon perfect conditions for the formation of these beautiful and elusive ice formations. These photos were taken along Cedar Grove Road (KY 480) just east of Cedar Grove Elementary School, and along KY 245 near the Jim Beam's Clermont distillery. Both locations are in Bullitt County, Ky., south of Shepherdsville. For more information about these frost flowers and how they're formed, see the 2007 Frost Flowers page. |
