Lagoon Valley Park, Vacaville

As I was putting this gallery together I realized how diverse this park is in so many ways. Of course the birding here, I think, is amazing and depending upon the time of year, has just about everything!...I'm still exploring this large park.

The things it has to offer in addition to birding are, picnicking, hiking, walking trails, it also has an archery range, a RC flying area, a dog park and a disc golf course! There is a $3 fee to enter or you can park your car outside and walk in.

The lagoon is about a 1 mile walk around on a flat path. As you enter the park it is connected with another park called Pena Adobe, which is another birding area that is considered to be quite good. The west side of the trail follows a creek with tules and the opposite side is an open area. The south side of the lagoon I always find interesting and usually find many different species here, with trees, lake shore, a creek and marshes it seems to be the most diverse for birds. The west side of the lagoon is lined with trees and is where the ducks and geese usually hang out...don't get me wrong there's plenty of other birds here also.
On the east side there is another road that takes you to a different section of the park away from the lake that follows along a creek...it's great for raptors, woodpeckers and other perching birds.

I'm still exploring and will add new additions as I come upon them.
