Hawaiian Honeycreeper (‘I’IWI)

Haleakalā National Park, Maui, HI

At the Hosmer Grove. Hosmer Grove is one of only two places these endemic birds can be found. The other is on the big island of Hawaii. They were really hard to photograph at this one lookout. They would suddenly appear then fly to one of these kind of trees and most of the time immediately disappear into the foliage. This was shot with a full-frame equivalent of 1,200mm and even then it was pretty far away and this was cropped quite a bit.
