Way up on top

Custer State Park, SD

Sometimes when I have my long lens on looking for birds or whatever, I don't find any so I like to see what else looks interesting. In this case, I liked the close up view of some of the Needles. What I didn't notice when I shot this was that there was a pair of climbers up on top of the right hand top formation of the center group.

Great capture, Dan! I can't imagine climbing something that radical -- especially since I'm 76! :-)
My wife and I were in S.D. a couple years ago, and we fell in love with it. The Custer State Park is a real jewel, and I could spend days hanging out at Sylvan Lake and photographing the birds and scenery.

I didn't see them until you pointed them out. The climbers really give a great sense of scale. V

they are monumental, and magnificent...there is such power in this image, and so many subtle colours revealed in the granite...V
