Camping for Photos

Monument Valley, AZ

Our campsite on top of Hunt's Mesa. There were two of us in each tent, set up by our guides. I had a vicious head cold going on and could hardly breath. Kept trying to keep my head clear without waking Glenn up. we were pretty tightly packed in up there too. Give me a nice, relatively spacious, warm hotel room and bed anytime. Camping up there is the only way to get the sun up and sundown images of Monument Valley. Just beyond the trees are the edge and the overlook.

Certainly wasn't five star but with a view like that; well it made up for any shortcomings. And if it wasn't for cloud cover, it could of been a million-star accommodation.

Admire your determination to get those special shots. Cooking over a campfire is fun. Sleeping in a tent not so much unless it’s one with indoor plumbing. 😬 V

Safe to say that was a night you won't forget but I'm sure the photography that followed was less painful...I have a strict rule of no less that 4 stars above my door or I don't go, so I hear you Dan :)) ( oh and I don't mean those in the sky LOL!!!,)

this brings back fond memories...what a fun adventure it was, despite the rigours of camping...even the steak and beans cooked over a campfire was a hoot....excellent shot too, showing our 'deluxe' accommodation, and including the amazing scene on offer....good one Dan..
