Himeji Castle

Himeji, Japan

The oldest original castle in Japan. It is a World Heritage site and a must see if you are in Japan. There are spectacular gardens and the view from the top, looking down on the town of Himeji, once you have climbed there on the original ladders, is breathtaking. This image was taken with a Cokin graduated purple filter.

A fantastic structure, and quite formidable to scale, as undoubtedly was the desired intent.

I like the treatment, it gives an ominous and powerful persona to this castle as if it was taken in the feudal days. V
