When my parents moved to Baton Rouge, they made sure they got a three car garage. People asked if they needed a place to store their boat. If only. They needed a place for Dad to store what we commonly think of as junk. Behind him is all of his stuff. And that's what's left over after he got rid of a lot of it when they moved from New Orleans to Baton Rouge. Tools, chemicals, electronics, you name it, my dad doesn't throw anything away. If something breaks, it goes to the garage to see if he can fix it. He usually does. Now the garage has gained new items from Hurricane Katrina. Dad's current project is taking things, cleaning and polishing them up, and storing them.
He showed me a camera he pulled out of my aunt's school in Mereaux. It is all corroded. He told me that the camera probably wasn't worth anything, but he might be able to take off and clean up the lens. I told him it was a bridge camera and the lens was attached. It's not like you can put it on different camera. He replied, "Well, no. But you can still use it as a magnifying glass." Yep, that's my dad, and I love him.
