Bug

Home, Backyard

I happened upon this little fellow when I went to check on some flowers that had been gifted to me earlier this summer by MrsEllisSouth. They are great plants that require absolutely no care at all. They even survived being a snack for the rabbits. I saw this pretty bug on one of the flowers. By the time, I grabbed my camera, he had moved to a leaf. I chased him around the flower with my camera set on macro. He didn't like me very much. After ten minutes, sweat pouring down my face as I stood in my business clothes, he finally decided to climb up onto a flower. Hooray! I would have been happier if this bug had been a better a model and turned to face the flower in the upper left hand corner. However, he was not particularly keen to my direction, and I am just happy with what I got. Never work with children, animals, or insects.

Asclepias tuberosa (Butterfly Weed). Lovely indeed. A tough native perennial.

LOL at what you had to go thru. What we do to get that shot we just gotta have. Looks like he was modeling for you. I can see you now in my minds eye trying to get the picture. Quite an unusual little bug! I like him!

Grab him for the haunt this season.. he may even make a buck if you or I don't step on him!
