21-04-05 granite

Thought I'd try something a little different today. I had the idea after seeing a photo in a
magazine. I snipped a stem of these small flowers off the bush, laid it on a rock on Mount Fuji,
and snapped away.

A little bit of post processing, and there we were final product. Lessons learned - Granite's got
too many speckles for this type of shot, and sandstone would have been better. Getting some
shadow's would have been nice too, but that's the price you pay for living next to the hills.
Somtimes you need to live in their shadow too!

addendum - This is going to be the last regular shot from me for a while. For the
next four weeks on the trot I'm working out of other offices in the group. It's pretty
unlikely that I'll get a chance to post during the week. But I plan to keep up with PAD,
and post the archived shots whenever I get a chance. In the meantime though I'll still
be visiting you all!

Might just be that I haven't had my coffee yet, but I am seeing this from the bottom of a boot's eye perspective and that tiny bounty of beauty is seeing its last.

I do like the texture and tones.

I agree with Laine.. the texture is great here. Don't think this is a failed experiment, Dom, this is an excellent study in monochrome. From the darkest part of the stems, to the forms of each petal .. to the speckles and cuts in the stone - it's excellent. Also very well composed.

See... :D

Raw texture, softened by a dainty flower...good work, Dom.
