12-11-04 kiss it goodbye.....

Is what I'm doing to all hopes of a new camera soon.

Someone drove into the car this afternoon so hard they ripped the bumper clean off, as well as
damaging the side of the front wing. They then drove off without leaving us a note. However they
were kind enough to leave me to pay the excess, and the increased premiums that go along with
making a claim. We also now have to hope that they've not damaged the chassis, as if they have
it's possible that our insurance company will try to write the car off.

This is now the third time someone's done this to us. Each time the car was parked reasonably, and
wouldn't have caused anyone problems to get past - well assuming we're not talking about Mr Magoo.

I was furious at the time, and this was going to turn into a rant about being responsible. That is
if you're responsible enough to drive, you should be responsible enough to stop and leave a note
for us. But in all honesty, I'm too pissed off to bother now.

I'm now going to have to spend the weekend making arrangements to fix the damage. Apologies in
advance for the lack of comments.

Update - first off, thanks to the messages from everyone. Catherine tried the Police at the
time, but with the best will in the world there isn't anything they can do, other than if someone
reports it to another station. Pretty unlikely though. Looks as though I'm going to have to dip
into my pocket and pay the excess plus the extra premiums. And yeah Pete - no-one saw anything, no
neighbours around the street the car was in, and no other drivers. Gutted.

Sorry to hear about this, and can't believe it's happened more than once to you. Hope it's all fixed now.

I think we all have a tale like this. My tale was that stolen and torched, I still burn with anger after many years. I do hope it resolves itself quickly. Cheers.

Sorry for what happened to your car, Dominic. But I do hope the police will be able to catch these guys!

Basturdz. Happened to me a few months back. My no-claims bonus is protected, but I still had to pay the excess and put up with the hassle of using the courtesy car (picking it up and returning it). In situations like this the police are worse than useless - but you have to report it or the insurance company won't cough up. Hope you find the SOB and give him a doing.

Worth reporting...who knows, the culprit may have done it more than once to someone else on the day....as a lark...you know what I mean, that type of mentality ??
Being that I would sit there until the owner returned to apologise & offer my insurance to cover this makes me wonder about the path humanity now chooses to take.
Can understand your anger Dom.
