Having landed in Australia and unable to get into my room, I went out for a walk. It took me well
over 30 hours to go from door to door to get here. By the time I landed it was past-midnight at
home and I felt I needed to get out and work out some knots. So I took off under the Bridge,
around circular quay, past the Opera House, and onto the botanic gardens.
It was my first time in Australia, and I'm not blessed with the language skills that let you know
exactly how it all felt. I guess slightly overwhelmed is the best expression. You see iconic
buildings and structures all the time in the media & in history lessons. To walk amongst them is a
different matter entirely. Especially when you hear a squawk above you and find Cockatoo's and
Parrots sailing past you, flying foxes roosting in tree tops. Ever so slightly surreal...
Fly and run 'till it hurts.
