These photographs show Oliver Cromwell approaching Saxmundham station, heading a recreation of the up "Easterling" on 16 May 2009.
The Easterling was direct service from Yarmouth Southtown to London Liverpool St, running via Beccles, Ipswich and Colchester. It ran until the line Beccles-Yarmouth line closed to passenger traffic in 1959. Since there is no longer any track on the first part of the route, this steam special began with a working from Norwich to Lowestoft, before reversing out of Lowestoft and continuing to Beccles where it picked up the original route.
