These photographs are from the Royal International Air Tattoo 2007, which took place at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire over the weekend 14/15th July. We were lucky with the weather (on the Saturday at any rate) as, although the day started off quite cloudy, there was only one short outbreak of rain. The sun made an appearence later in the morning, and the cloudbase lifted. The weather didn't just vary during the day, it was different depending on which part of the sky you were looking at. As can be seen in this gallery, where one image might be against blue sky, the next against white cloud, and the next against grey cloud - despite their having been taken within a matter of seconds of each other.

This year's "rare birds" were the F-16s of the US Air Force's display team, the Thunderbirds. ?Unfortunately, they had the worst weather of the jet aerobatic teams, which might well have restricted their display. Still, they're not often seen this side of the Atlantic very often, so I'll concentrate on having seen them in action, rather than whingeing about their (possibly) having to curtail the display.
