XH558 was restored to flying condition at the end of 2007, and certificated for display flying on 3 July 2008. She displayed for the first time in restoration at the Waddington International Airshow on 5 July.
Unfortunately, for one reason or another, it wasn't until a couple of weeks later, on 20 July, that I first saw XH558 fly in restoration. It was quite a moment when she charged down the runway, accompanied by the authentic Vulcan Howl, before lifting off and climbing out to a round of applause from the assembled crowd.
